Description
• Presents accessible methods for connecting with your own fetch
• Examines the history of working with spirit guides across Norse, Slavic, Greek, Roman, and Germanic traditions
• Explains how to avoid common pitfalls in fetchcraft practice
Drawing on Norse cosmology, Indo-European myth, medieval accounts, and animistic traditions from Slavic, Greek, and Roman cultures, Šárka Sedláková explores the ancient practice of discovering and working with your spirit guides.
The author examines the cultivation of the daimon, the witch’s view of the familiar, and how to build a relationship with the Norse fylgja, a shapeshifting companion or attendant spirit that is connected to a person’s soul. Blending mythological scholarship with lived occult experience, she reveals how these entities have long served as intermediaries between humans and the unseen world, helping to shape our intuition, inspiration, and destiny.
Drawing on her background in psychotherapy and her work within Hermetic and ceremonial traditions, Sedláková presents a rich model of the human psyche inspired by Norse understandings of the multi-part soul. By situating the fetch within this framework—alongside concepts such as hamingja, a familial soul that is active for generations, and óðr, ecstatic inspiration—she builds a foundation for meaningful spiritual dialogue and personal transformation.
The author provides accessible methods for identifying and communicating with your own fetch. She adapts psychological techniques and meditative disciplines—such as autogenic training, mindfulness, and útiseta, the Norse equivalent of a vision quest—to support sustained contact with these guiding spirits. By teaching you how to cultivate awareness, avoid common mental pitfalls, and create a personal “mythscape” rooted in Norse cosmology, Sedláková offers you a powerful path to seek deeper intuition, magical development, and a conscious relationship with the guiding forces of the inner and unseen worlds.
