Description
In An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet, based on the award-winning docuseries of the same name, charismatic and ever-hopeful guide Nikolaj Coster-Waldau brings readers along on his quest for hope and inspiration across six continents, introducing people, traditions, and innovations that prove a sustainable future is within our reach.
From a zero-waste village in Japan, to a vessel creating artificial clouds over the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, to the first Maasai conservancy in Kenya, Nikolaj spotlights inspiring and innovative sustainability work around the world, while highlighting the deeply human aspect of maintaining optimism in the face of incredibly challenging odds.
In a sea of dire headlines, it can be easy to lose heart. An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet reminds us that pockets of hope are springing up around the world to take care of our planet and effect real change, all powered by everyday people who see a problem, and decide to figure out a solution rather than simply giving up.
Through personal storytelling, genuine human connections, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet expands and builds upon the gripping stories and calls to action from the show, offering a personal and insightful glimpse into sustainability, nature’s amazing resilience, and building a brighter future for all of humanity.
